Music is a language that communicates the joy and hope of Christian life!

We encourage you to share your musical ability, no matter how great or small, so that combined with God's Holy Spirit, music can become a powerful experience in worship at St. Christopher's Catholic Church.

MISSION STATEMENT
It is our hope that the Lord Jesus Christ will be glorified through liturgy and music at St. Christophers Catholic Church. We pray that those called by God to participate in the music program will be instruments of the Holy Spirit, and will humbly share their gifts or talents.

CANTOR: The Cantor is the leader of song at services when a choir is not present. The cantor must be a member of one of the choirs of St. Christophers Parish.  Cantor rehearsals vary in time and place. All cantors will meet together periodically rehearse and share constructive ideas to better serve the parish as worship leaders.

SUNDAY CHOIR: On a rotating schedule at Weekend Masses.  With different styles of leading song this group sings two, three and four part harmony, choral arrangements, to unison singing through-out the choir season (September-May). Our repertoire spans the historical tradition of the church as well as contemporary and modern setting of motets and anthems. The first four or five rehearsals are held on Wednesdays 7:30 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. in the church, starting in the fall.  Rehearsals then jump to Sunday mornings at 10:30 a.m. in October.

THE GROUP:  Provides music for worship during weekend Masses on a rotating schedule.  Our goal is to gently join our friends and family in song, gathering closer to the mystery of Christ the heart of our liturgical celebration. Emphasizing community and familiar repertoire, we use the primary liturgical instrument, the human voice, accompanied by guitar and other instruments. Membership is open to singers and instrumentalists. We meet one hour before mass and have the option for rehearsal one to two times per month. This is a great opportunity for potential worship leaders to stretch their wings and FLY!  Coordinator and Contact: Aurelie at 486-0457

CHILDREN'S CHOIR:  Children from grades 1-7 are invited to joyfully sing and praise God.  We practice alternate Thursdays, from 5:45-6:45 PM in the church.  We sing with the other music groups as well as by ourselves at mass.  Would you like to join us?  Contact Greg and Stacey Bergmann, 486-3408 or sbe@columbus.rr.com.

“THE ROCK BAND”: This group is comprised of 8-12th grade students as well as youth ministry staff. Students are encouraged to sing or play instruments as needed. This group focuses on putting a new spin on traditional church songs as well as introducing the congregation to contemporary Christian music- music that you might hear on 104.9 The River or 88.7 Radio U. Typically rehearsals are the first Sunday of every month from 7:00 -8:30 pm from November to April. Additional rehearsals are scheduled as needed. This group leads masses, sings for youth lead prayer services, has concerts, sings at festivals, makes CDs and has a great time doing it.  Contact Melissa Weaver at 486-0457
